Coronavirus (COVID-19)

COVID-19 is a new strain of coronavirus affecting humans. Australian Government agencies are working with states and territories to implement measures to manage the risk of COVID-19.

Information to assist students, parents and education providers, as well as job seekers and employers with making informed decisions about managing risk associated with COVID-19 can be found at https://www.dese.gov.au/news/coronavirus-covid-19.

Supporting students through the effects of COVID-19

The Government has expanded the eligibility criteria for the fortnightly $550 Coronavirus supplement to Australians receiving student support payments. Minister for Families and Social Services Anne Ruston said the changes would benefit about 235,000 students who receive Youth Allowance (Student), AUSTUDY and ABSTUDY.

As long as you applied for the payment by 13 April you will also be eligible for the $750 stimulus payment announced on 12 March, which will give you extra relief until the fortnightly $550 Coronavirus supplement is paid.
