New Startup Year loans announced – tell us what you think!
In the October 2022-23 Budget, the Government has committed $15.4 million over 4 years from 2022–23 to establish the Startup Year program.
The Startup Year initiative will deliver income contingent Higher Education Loan Program (HELP) loans to up to 2,000 recent graduates, postgraduate and final year undergraduate students per year.
Startup Year will support students’ participation in a one-year, business-focused accelerator program at an Australian higher education provider. The program aims to support and inspire the next generation of aspiring entrepreneurs through greater access to, and formalisation of, university accelerator programs, equipping students with the knowledge and skills to transform their ideas into startups.
The Department of Education is seeking views from current students and recent graduates, as potential Startup Year program participants, to better understand how this program should be designed to best meet the needs of students with an idea they want to explore.
