When to contact your higher education provider

Your provider is your primary contact if you:

  • are thinking about study

  • want to know if you are eligible for a Commonwealth supported place (CSP)

  • want to know if you are eligible for a Higher Education Loan Program (HELP) loan

  • have identified incorrect loan charges on your HELP loan history

  • want to make a complaint.

When to contact the Australian Taxation Office (ATO)

The ATO is responsible for HELP debts. Contact the ATO if you have questions about:

  • how much you owe on your HELP debt

  • indexation on your HELP debt account

  • accessing ATO online services

  • pay as you go (PAYG) withheld amounts

  • compulsory repayments

  • voluntary repayments.

When to contact Services Australia

You should contact Services Australia when you have questions about:

  • Youth Allowance

  • Austudy

  • Abstudy

  • Tertiary Access Payment

  • Pensioner Education Supplement

  • Student Start-up Loan
